Mezzo

Terms of Service

Last updated October 20, 2026

Draft for the Connecticut beta. This text describes how Mezzo works today. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and will change before the beta opens.

What Mezzo is

Mezzo is a home-care service for homeowners and property managers, and a business toolkit and marketplace for contractors. Mezzo connects people who need work done with contractors who do it. Mezzo is not a contractor and does not do the work. Contractors on Mezzo are independent businesses, not Mezzo employees, and are responsible for their own work, licences, insurance and taxes.

Reviews

After a job each side may review the other. Neither review is shown until both have been written, or 14 days have passed, so neither is swayed by the other. Reviews must be honest and about the job. The person reviewed may answer once. Either side may ask Mezzo to remove a review, and the person who wrote it may ask to withdraw it; a person at Mezzo investigates each request, may ask both sides for their account, aims to decide within a week and tells you the outcome and the reason. Mezzo’s staff may take down a review that is abusive, untrue, about something else, contains personal information or comes from someone with a conflict of interest. A review is not taken down because it is negative or because someone disagrees with it.

Text messages

Mezzo texts you only if you add a US mobile number, switch texts on and agree to the wording shown beside the box. The texts are about your homes, jobs, payments and reminders and are not marketing. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop, START to resume, or HELP for help. Agreeing to texts is not a condition of using Mezzo.

Help from Mezzo’s support team

Mezzo’s support staff cannot see your jobs, payments or settings unless you turn on “Let support look at my account” in your account settings. It lasts the time you choose, they can only look, and each look is written to a log that staff cannot edit.

Licences, insurance and checking them

Contractors must keep their Connecticut registrations, licences and insurance current. Mezzo checks licence numbers against the State’s public registry and shows homeowners what it found and when. The registry can lag behind renewals, so a check is information, not a guarantee, and homeowners should confirm for themselves that a contractor is right for their job. A lapsed or suspended licence, or expired insurance, stops a contractor from sending new quotes; jobs already awarded are not affected.

AI helpers

Some features — drafting a quote from notes, turning a description into a request, answering questions about a home, DIY guidance, reading a label from a photo, reading a scanned document — use an AI model. AI answers can be wrong. Check any AI suggestion, especially anything about safety, gas, electricity or structure, before acting on it, and call a licensed professional when in doubt. An AI-drafted quote never sets a price; the contractor does. Mezzo is not responsible for decisions made on the strength of an AI answer.

Disputes between people on Mezzo

If a homeowner and contractor disagree about the work or the payment, either may use Mezzo’s dispute process, which can hold payment while the matter is reviewed. Using it does not give up any right under Connecticut law, including the right to go to court.

What you must not do

Closing your account

When an account is closed, Mezzo deletes its personal data and scrubs names from records shared with other people on a job. A sealed copy of what was removed is kept for six years for disputes and legal requests, then erased. See the Privacy page.

Limits on what Mezzo is responsible for

Mezzo is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, Mezzo is not liable for the work, conduct or products of contractors, for homeowner decisions, or for indirect losses. Nothing here limits any right you have under Connecticut or federal law that cannot be waived.

Changes and contact

We will tell you about material changes to these terms before they take effect. Questions: contact Mezzo support from the app. [Support address and governing-law details to be added once counsel has reviewed this text.]
